Day one of the USBC masters has wrapped up in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada and the scores they are a high!
At the top of the leaderboard, from Saginaw, Michigan – following up his performance last week at the TOC – Tom Smallwood, sitting at +263. In second, from Phoenix Arizona – by way of the UK – Stuart Williams, sitting at +261 for his 5 games (244, 266, 257, 247, 247). In third place, sitting just three pins back, is the young Nick Kruml, of Downers Grove, Illinois. Kruml put together games of 237, 209, 276, 279, and 259 to get to +260.
Also in the top five are two other young standouts, your reigning Player of the Year, EJ Tackett (+223) and Michael Tang (+218). Last week’s champion and three-time Player of the Year, Jason Belmonte, currently resides in 7th place, Hall of Famer, Pete Weber – coming off a strong showing at last week’s major – is sitting in 31st, while TOC runner up, Tommy Jones’, tenth frame struggles of last week seem to have carried over, as he is currently +43 and sitting in 146th place. The second round of qualifying begins tomorrow morning, February 22nd, at The Orleans bowling center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
