2019 Season
Looking only at majors and throwing out the Players Championship outlier, Barrett finished 10th in the Tournament of Champions, 23rd in the World Championship, eighth in the USBC Masters and 14th in the U.S. Open. The rest of his season looked similar – enviable stats by most standards but not quite good enough to legitimately contend, which is to say not quite good enough for Barrett’s own standards. Picking up a huge win in Kuwait at the end of the season gave Barrett his eighth career title and perhaps the momentum needed to find himself on TV in championship situations more often in 2020.
2020 Outlook
Barrett is going to make more shows in 2020 than he did in 2019. Once he’s on TV, he’s even more difficult to defeat. Simple math says he’ll have more championship opportunities and, likely, a win or two. Barrett will have a strong enough start to secure a bye in the PBA Playoffs – where he made it to the quarterfinals in 2019 – and it would be surprising if Barrett didn’t find himself on the stepladder of at least one of the five majors between now and March.
