Roto Grip TNT vs Storm Axiom – Can The TNT Replace It??
This is a comparison of the Roto Grip TNT to the Storm Axiom bowling ball! With virtually identical core shapes and numbers, can the TNT replace the Axiom or is the cover strength difference too much??
Roto Grip TNT Bowling Ball
Thanks to the relentlessness of our research and development team, we found yet another way to formulate quite possibly the most explosive benchmark balls in recent history. Engineered to create more overall torque and pure projectile power than all the low RG symmetrical ball before it, the TNT is here to blow up racks and take names. From the Torque Sphere Technology inside the Torpex Core to the introduction of the eTrax™ PLUS solid coverstock, it’s a high probability this ball will have your opponent’s taking cover and calling the bomb squad for help
TORPEXâ„¢ CORE
By placing the TORQUE SPHERE just above the inner equator of the TORPEX Core, we found that not only did it create the lowest RG symmetrical Roto Grip part ever, but it also created a higher differential which translates to more overall motion and less deflection through the pins.
ETRAXâ„¢ PLUS SOLID COVERSTOCK
First introduced in the pearlized form, we felt there was no better time than now to unleash the solid version on this brand-new core shape. Providing more overall grip and responsiveness to friction than our forever famous eTrax solid coverstock, this cover is still a step down from our super aggressive MicroTrax solid coverstock material. Bottom line, cleaner through the front of the lane than MicroTrax, but overall, more aggressive than eTrax.

Storm Axiom Bowling Ball
Design is thinking made visual. In Storm’s case, it’s design materialized. We understand that the perceptible is as important as the tangible. NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm’s earliest reading cover to date. NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. We love all things new at Storm, and the Orbital Core is no exception. This modern take on an established concept has us stirring with excitement. The Orbital Core has a distinctly low RG axis which further complements the midlane read for which NeX was developed.
NRG™ has become a staple in Storm’s lineup of coverstocks for nearly a decade. It’s due time for an upgrade! NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm’s earliest reading cover to date. NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. Our standardized durability and longevity tests showed NeX created 11% more entry angle and 9.6% more overall hook after 50 shots compared to a fresh NRG cover. Simply put, NeX gives more midlane read than ever WITHOUT sacrificing any backend! Wow.
