How to Deal with Carry Down! | Featuring Scott Anderson | The Hype

Bowling Ball Selection and Carry Down

Carry down, the phenomenon of oil being moved down the lane by bowling balls, significantly impacts ball reaction and requires bowlers to adapt their strategies. As oil depletes from the front part of the lane and accumulates further down, bowling balls tend to read the lane earlier and hook sooner. This can lead to inconsistent ball motion and difficulty finding the pocket. Bowlers must adjust their ball selection, speed, and target to compensate for carry down.

Speed control plays a crucial role in combating carry down, as slower speeds allow the ball to encounter the accumulated oil sooner, leading to exaggerated reactions. When facing carry down, bowlers should maintain consistent speed to ensure the ball reaches the intended breakpoint with sufficient energy. Moving right and slowing down the ball simultaneously can result in drastic changes in ball motion, making it difficult to control the breakpoint. By keeping speed consistent, bowlers can better predict how the ball will react to the changing oil pattern.

Selecting a bowling ball with a stronger core, like the Eternity Pie, can help mitigate the effects of carry down. Stronger cores provide more energy down lane, allowing the ball to continue its motion even after encountering the accumulated oil. In contrast, weaker cores may struggle to maintain energy and can result in inconsistent ball reaction on carry down. The Eternity Pi, with its larger core, showcases a more rounded and predictable motion compared to the Tour Dynam-X, which has a weaker core and exhibits a sharper, less predictable reaction. By understanding the relationship between core strength, speed control, and carry down, bowlers can make informed decisions to optimize their performance.

900 Global Eternity Pi Bowling Ball

The Eternity Pi represents a new option for heavy oil performance in the Global lineup. The ALL-NEW Reserve Blend 901 Cover with its 2000-Grit Abralon finish will provide you with great traction through the front part of the lane. Combined with the Epoch Asymmetric Core, this new offering will give you a heavy oil ball with a completely different motion than our other proven 900 Series heavy oil option, the Reality.

THE EPOCH ASYMMETRIC
The Epoch Asymmetric Core from the original Eternity makes its return to the Global arsenal. With a design inspired by the original Break Core found in so many classic Global releases, this core gives the player that great asymmetric shape on the lanes. Additionally, the moderate amount of intermediate differential will keep the core from “locking up” or losing energy too quickly.

RESERVE BLEND 901 SOLID COVERSTOCK
The Reserve Blend 901 Solid Cover has been hand-crafted to give you a different look versus the previously used S84 Response that was utilized on so many 900 Series releases. While still very much a strong cover, expect to see a cleaner motion through the front part of the lane when comparing to S84 Response. This was necessary due to the strength of the Epoch Core and to differentiate this heavy oil ball from the Reality.

Roto Grip Tour Dynam-X Bowling Ball

From day one, the end goal was to develop and create a high-performance ball from a completely different dynamic performance-focused perspective. Tour level players and above average bowlers from around the globe have always asked for a ball that produces control and continuation with minimal direction change in order to battle those tougher and more demanding and over reacting conditions. They spoke, we listened! So, we went to work to formulate and create the ultimate “TOUR PLAYER” ball.

And truth be told, after months and months of trials and errors, we were finally able to construct the optimum control and continuation for every style of bowler no matter their rev rate. Control, stability, and versatility unified into one dynamic ball that is a must for every single serious or semi-serious bowler.

Rondure Core

When a symmetrical core shape just isn’t enough or quite right, and a big asymmetrical core shape is just flat out too much, the answer is simple – the Mild-Asymmetric Rondure Tour Core. Why is this version considered a “Tour” model you ask? We thought you would never ask. From the original version of this shape previously introduced and used in the Rubicon™ Series, we changed the core values significantly to create a faster revving version that stays on-line easier and longer with less change of direction due to the Differential value being cut in half.

So, no matter how you throw this ball, whether you have a super high rev rate or a super low rev rate, or a rev rate somewhere in the middle, this Low RG, Low Differential, Mild Asymmetric Differential core produces a constant stable motion off your hand and all the way through the pin deck.
