USBC Masters Round Up For Day Two

After two days of qualifying, your new leader: Michael Tang (+479). The young right-hander put together an impressive block with games of 258, 258, 247, 267, 231, catapulting him into the top spot.

In second place, after bowling 833 to open up his second round of qualifying, the one, the only, Jason Belmonte (+416). Belmonte struggled closing out his block (205, 179), allowing Tang to leapfrog him into the lead. Nevertheless, the three-time Masters champion has put himself in terrific position to go for his fourth Masters title.

In what may be a surprise to the casual fan – though no surprise to those that know him – Nick Kruml, of Downers Grove, Illinois – continues to put up big, consistent numbers and finds himself sitting in third place after ten games of qualifying at +378.

Sitting in fourth place, the British Beefcake, Stu Williams, at +362. Williams had a bit of a slower block than the first day, but, nevertheless, has positioned himself nicely going into the final day of qualifying.

Rounding out the current top five, out of Sewell, New Jersey, Steven Pavlinko Jr. Pavlinko Jr. has had two very solid says, putting up 1144 his first five games and 1214 his last five, one of the highest blocks of the day.

It has been an interesting two days at the USBC Masters, as there are some familiar faces at the top as well as a mix of some young, up and comers trying to make a name for themselves. After tomorrow’s five game blocks, the stage will be set and matchplay will begin.
