The former Stoney’s bowling alley caught on fire Saturday evening on Oberlin-Elyria Road.

About 6 p.m., Carlisle Township firefighters were called out to the building for a structure fire. No one was injured in the fire, although several firefighters were treated for heat-stress symptoms.

The blaze was concentrated on the one side of the building on Oberlin-Elyria Road in some old apartment rooms.

It took about two hours and 30 minutes before the fire was officially declared to be out.

As is usual in the summer months, several firefighters were treated for extreme heat. One firefighter was taken away in a LifeCare ambulance.

To help relieve some of the crews, several departments responded, including South Amherst, Elyria Township, Oberlin, LaGrange and Elyria.

Stoney’s has been abandoned for years. It was last bought in 2018 by a limited liability corporation.
