Angels’s League Bowling Ball Arsenal: Her Picks For A Complete Bowling Bag

These are her picks for a 5 ball plus spare league arsenals!

Hey everybody, have had a lot of people asking about what Angel and I usually carry to league, so I thought I’d count down kind of our top 5 favorites right now, usually take 6 just because and one apiece is a spare ball.  Storm, Turbo Grips, BowlersMart, Coolwick, SRGBBFS, and Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, KS sponsor the videos, follow the links in the description or at the end of the video for your bowling needs at Bowler’s Mart, that associates your purchases with me, use my code Rosdahl10 for 10% off at Coolwick, and check out the SRGBBFS group on Facebook for all things SPI, specializing in used, rare, and overseas equipment.

How Many Bowling Balls Should I Have For League Bowling?

So who takes 6 balls to league anyway?  We do, because we want to, and it’s hard to narrow  40 balls down that far in the first place, let alone lower.  Whether it’s for fun or just in case something goes sideways, there’s nothing wrong with taking 6 balls, matter of fact I think 4-6 is a pretty common number.

My Favorite Bowling Ball In My Bag Right Now Is The 900 Global Honey Badger Intensity

My favorite right now is the Honey Badger Intensity bowling ball.  It just got discontinued, but we’re going to talk about it anyway.  The HBI is kind of like an asymmetric Hyroad, it’s got a medium RG, medium high diff and a mild asymmetry, so it gets down the lane fairly easy and has a nice defined and readable finish.  It has a very stable roll to it though, it’s very balanced and consistent, there’s not really one thing that stands out about it, it’s kind of like a cleaner IQ Tour Solid.  I shot a 299 with it at the beginning of the season which is currently my high game, and it’s pretty well been my benchmark ball since drilling.

The Honey Badger Intensity will build upon the success of the Honey Badger Revival by giving the player that famous Honey Badger shape on heavier oil conditions.

The S70 Solid Cover, finished at 4000 Grit Abralon, will provide more traction in the oil versus the polished hybrid cover found on the Honey Badger Revival. The Honey Badger Intensity will provide a dynamic skid/flip shape on the heavier patterns. This cover has been purposely engineered to give you a different look on heavy oil.

The Grapnel 2.0 Core Quickly became known as a piece that will lope through the front part of the lane with very little effort and change direction sharply. Most heavy oil balls feature lower RG’s to promote early revolutions off the player’s hand. Not no with the Grapnel 2.0. This, combined with the cover, will promote a truly unique shape on the fresh patterns.

Coverstock: S70 Solid Reactive

Finish: 4000 Abralon

Color: Pink/Blue Navy

Core: Grapnel 2.0 Asymmetric

Flare Potential: Medium-High

900 Global Reality Bowling Ball Is A Real Big Ball With a Little Versatility

Next, the 900 Global Reality bowling ball.  It’s too strong for me to use very often, but it’s got a really wild blend of traction and usability.  It hooks a bunch, but you also don’t really have to fight it for length, it’s pretty quick on the backend and likes playing angle so it’s not one of those strong balls that has to be thrown on volume from straighter angles, so it’s like a big buffed or juiced version of the Honey Badger Intensity, you can really see a similar shape or look between the two.  Now I usually keeps it lane shined, very rarely do I need surface, and while you don’t want to create overlap with what you’re throwing, big sanded stuff just isn’t usually needed on league shots, and this gives me a nice 1-2 punch with my HBI if it’s a little too clean or weak.

The ALL-NEW Reality brings a solid version of the incredibly strong S84 Response cover to the table. Combined with a revolutionary core, the Reality will be the strongest ball 900 Global offers!

The S84 Response solid cover utilizes a technology that promotes up to 20% larger pore sizes. By offering this cover in a 2000 Abralon finish, we have ensured maximum traction in the heaviest of oil. The Reality will rival the original Volatility in terms of overall hook.

The Disturbance Asymmetric core creates asymmetry by having differing shapes on the bottom and top of the weight block. This core was designed with a focus on a shape that will fill a space with the least amount of material, yet still yield the RG/Diff values that all bowlers demand.

Coverstock: S84 Response Solid
Weight Block: Disturbance Asymmetric
Factory Finish: 2000 Abralon
Flare Potential: 5+
Radius of Gyration (RG): 15lbs – 2.49
Differential (Diff): 15lbs – .052
Intermediate Differential (Diff): 15lbs – .018

Roto Grip RST X-2 Bowling Ball Is One of My Favorites

I use the RST X2 quite a bit.  Clean and sharp cover, medium RG medium torque core, perfect for a medium speed medium rev bowler.  Bowling in a mostly men’s scratch league, the rev rates are higher and the shot gets beat up by the end of the night and I just have to get deep, there’s no way around it.  The X2 helps get down the lane and then back up the hill with strength.  I usually default to cleaner lower RG and lower differential stuff because of the control down lane, but when I need a similarly clean and rolly look that’ll cover boards, this is my favorite choice.

Given the continued success of the RST X-1, we knew the next ball in the series using the Roto Star Tour Core was going to need a special coverstock wrapped around it as well. So, after countless tests involving multiple players of different styles, we determined that the eTrax pearl material gave us the type of reaction we were looking for, but we wanted something a little more while still using that same chemistry. So, the R&D team went to work changing the ratios and other variables until we settled in on the NEW eTrax PLUS Pearl Reactive formula that provides a larger footprint throughout the entire lane without reducing the responsiveness to friction down lane. Creating yet another viable pearlized coverstock option for the Roto Grip family of balls.

Professional bowlers like to see continuous motion down lane with minimal deflection as the ball enters the pocket due to their rev rates usually being on the higher side. This logic was the basis of development by the R&D team as they looked to create a core that would maintain dynamics after drilling in order to maintain a higher level of core torque down lane. The larger mass at the base of the core does indeed create that. Especially since when drilled, the thumbhole will always end up in the void area not really affect the bottom mass of the core. Thus, making this core a “Tour Level” type core design better known as the Roto Star Tour Core (RST Core).

The Roto Grip UFO Alert Bowling Ball Is ALWAYS In My Bowling Bag

Finally, I also like my UFO Alert quite a bit, and it fits several different scenarios.  If the Hyped Pearl isn’t enough but I want that general shape, UFO Alert.  If the X2 is a good look but a little too sharp, UFO Alert.  If the Reality is too strong, UFO Alert . . I’m really telling you, the Alert is that Astro PhysiX, Halo Pearl, Hyper Cell Fused just consistent, controllable, simple asymmetric Zen type of look.  It does prefer to stay around 3rd arrow or outside of that, heavier hands will obviously be able to get it back from anywhere, but this is the prototypical league killer type of ball.  If the Zen is maybe too early and smooth, the Alert actually has a weaker cover and a core that promotes more length in the fronts, it does however wind up faster down lane due to the higher friction response and higher torque of the asymmetric core.

Our obsession with helping players of all ages and styles conquer various lane conditions while abiding to forthcoming governing rules, led to the development and creation of the asymmetrical E.T. Core (Equalizer Technology Core) which features built in cavities in order to increase weight displacement after drilling without a balance hole to increase overall ball motion.

The MicroTrax (Micro Nanoparticle Traction) Coverstock offers the optimum balance of midlane traction and responsiveness to friction thanks the blend of nanoparticles throughout the coverstock. This formulation maintains its surface profile texture longer to ensure you get maximum performance while displacing oil at an above average rate compared to other coverstock materials on the market today.

Assembled for every bowler in the universe, the UFO Alert is here to help you navigate those Medium to Medium/Heavy Oil Conditions with ease. No matter your style, no matter your rev rate, no matter your speed, the E.T. Core (Equalizer Technology Core) with its built in cavities, is sure to create great overall core motion every time due to the added mass displacement when drilled. And we can’t forget about the eTrax Hybrid Coverstock which is made of 2 parts pearl and1 part solid. This cover combination aids in creating plenty of responsiveness to friction down lane without being too angular. Thus, making this combination of core and cover one of the most ideal options ever created for most any house type oil condition on planet earth.

The Roto Grip Hyped Pearl Is Great On Drier Lane Conditions

The Hyped Pearl has also become a favorite of mine lately, it’s virtually an IQ Emerald with a bit more punch down lane, so a little more length, a little more shape, but very similar lane and angle control.  The HP2 line has been known for years for some legitimately huge releases, and the biggest bang for your buck out there, and the Hyped Pearl feels like a smaller Zen or Marvel Pearl type release.  It’s a very simple reaction, very readable or meaning there’s not a whole lot of nuance to pick up or try to see, what it’s doing is obvious and visible.  It’s clean and stable rolling with a firm but not sharp move on the backend.

BALL INFO - roto grip hyped pearl bowling ball

We collectively gathered our thoughts and perspectives on what we felt the HP2 line truly stands for and what it should be. We then went to work developing and constructing what is now known as the Hyped Core. Measuring in as the lowest RG core we have ever offered in the HP2 line, the Hyped Core provides more overall motion than the balls offered in the HP1 line, while providing a touch less motion than our HP3 line offerings. Thus, making this one of the best options we have ever constructed for the HP2 line of balls in history. So, if you weren’t already excited, it is now time to GET HYPED!

From the beginning, the end goal for the Hyped Core was to create a core design that would provide us more overall ball motion than the Hustle Core found in the HP1 Line, while also creating a viable step down option (less performance) than the motions found from our HP3 Line of balls. In the end, our R&D Team hit it out of the park with creating a core shape that provides medium flare and the ideal ball motion for the HP2 Line of balls moving forward.

Old Trusty Storm Black Belmo Spare Bowling Ball For Spares

I use a Black Belmo spare when needed.  This is just a collection of what we normally use, obviously we’ll switch it up from time to time when new stuff comes out, but this is a blend of heavy use stuff with stuff we’d also recommend.  Thanks for watching and may the strikes be with you.
