Columbia 300 High Speed Bowling Ball Review

Columbia 300 High Speed Bowling Ball Review

The Columbia 300 High Speed is a new high-performance bowling ball designed for bowlers seeking a controllable shape and continuous motion through the pins. This ball features the HK22 hybrid coverstock, providing more grip in the oil compared to its predecessor, the Top Speed, which had a pearl coverstock. The High Speed also utilizes the Shifter core, an asymmetrical weight block known for its high flare potential. This combination results in a ball that slows down quickly but still retains a good amount of down-lane hook.

The High Speed offers a balance of early and late hook, making it a versatile option for transitioning lane conditions. While not the most angular ball on the market, it provides a smooth and predictable motion. Compared to other balls in the Columbia 300 lineup, the High Speed sits between the original Speed, which is a stronger and earlier hooking ball, and the Cuda Pearl, which offers less hook and a later reaction.

Bowlers looking for a reliable option to combat the transition phase of a bowling session should consider the Columbia 300 High Speed. When solid bowling balls begin to hook too early, and a ball with more shine is needed to control the lane, the High Speed can be a valuable asset. Its combination of coverstock, core, and overall design allows it to grip the oil in the front part of the lane while still providing enough energy to carry through the pins effectively.
