The CPTv2 – Flip reactive coverstock describes the updated version 2 of our low friction coverstock. The Chemical Projection Technology Flip formulation allows for a lower friction reactive coverstock that easily projects down the lane and provides a more controllable hook motion on medium oil lane conditions.
CORE – The Soul Medium RG symmetrical core features a multi-sided core system. This core design creates an optimum medium RG match up for low friction coverstock.
BALL MOTION – With its Royal Shine finish, the Soul Mate will skid longer with a quicker response to friction at the breakpoint making it a perfect companion to the Soul. The Soul Mate is great ball for rev dominant and slower ball speed players on light oil conditions.
REACTION SETUP – The Soul Mate can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for symmetric core bowling balls.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING – At Brunswick, the unique core shape of each individual ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. At 12 and 13 pounds, Brunswick uses a generic core shape with a RG-differential that is close enough to the 14 to 16 pound shape so the same drilling instructions can be used

I drilled the Soul Mate with a 5-1/4" pin to pap with a 35 degree VAL angle. This layout for me typically creates good length with sharper entry angle. The Soul Mate matched up well for me with this layout. I've been starting to use the Soul Mate when I start seeing a lot of bump right and I can open my angles up as the lanes transition. It has a fairly sharp backend motion, which is what I anticipated, so it excited me that it worked out as I planned. This ball compliments the Soul very well, being that its a little cleaner and sharper. In addition to the difference in shape, I would say it's about 2-3 boards less overall hook than the Soul. Therefore, I reserve the Soul Mate for more tracked up lane conditions or higher friction surfaces. I prefer to use the Soul (solid) if there is a little more hold and not as much defined friction. It is clear that this ball is intended to be the step down from the Soul (solid) and that's exactly where it fits for me. One additional comment on this ball....the color is outstanding! I try to throw it whenever I can simply because of that.
Soul Mate Looking for controllable ball on low volume oil patterns? This ball is the answer. With its shiny flip reactive cover stock and medium RG core this ball easily gets though the front part of the lane. This ball will skid longer with the medium RG core, but then will respond quickly to friction, later down lane. Because of its flip reactive cover this ball will respond with a controllable flip reaction to the pocket. Check out my Facebook page to see the video of this ball going down the lane. The one that I drilled up, I used a shorter pin, 4 1/2 inches, because I wanted a little help getting it to makes its move with my medium rev rate. It turned out to be a great choice as the ball motion on this ball is incredibly predictable, and gives me some nice area to play on the lane. With this balls cover and core combination it allows for multiple drilling options. This is a great ball, especially in later blocks with the lanes become fried. Dual Angle Layout: 85 x 4 1/2" x 30 X Hole (if there is one): None The Soul Mate is a great compliment to the Soul. With the new coverstock formulation, it clears the front part of the lane easily and has a strong motion on the back part of the lane. It is best used for medium to lighter oil conditions or when other balls are hooking to early. It's a good fit in the Affordable line where you need a ball that gets through the front part of the lane with ease. I have used this ball when the lanes start to break down and other balls are hooking too early or when I need to play further right on the lanes and play straighter up the boards. Here is a video of me throwing the Soul, Soul Mate, and Mastermind Scholar. https://youtu.be/A56WjzeMlPk
